Cloak and dagger KGB role for Victoria’s Prince Albert
HOTLY TIPPED to play James Bond, Tom Hughes relishes being the spy who came in from the cold. After playing Prince Albert in ITV’s Victoria, Hughes donned a university gown to film scenes in chilly Cambridge for the thriller Red Joan. Hughes, 31, plays ‘seductively attractive’ KGB agent Leo in the film, which stars Dame Judi Dench as Joan Stanley with Sophie Cookson as the young Joan. Critics have praised his ‘electrifying’ chemistry with Victoria co-star Jenna Coleman, which was given extra frisson by the fact that they are a couple off-screen, too. Friends say the actors’ relationship is ‘intense and vocal’.
