I Read with interest the letter written by Kay Harrison (Peterborou­gh). during the 1950s, my aunt, Mabel Craxton, worked for a shoe factory that was based in Bozeat near Wellingbor­ough in northampto­nshire. sir stanley Matthews had his football boots made there then. Periodical­ly he would go to the factory and sign his name on sheets of leather. It was my aunt’s job to then sew them onto his personal boots. she’d often give me few sheets, which made me very popular at school.
