192 nations pledge to turn the tide
ALMOST 200 governments have signed an historic pledge to stop the scourge of plastic in our seas.
The agreement, accepted unanimously by 192 states including the US, at the UN Environment Assembly yesterday resolved ‘to combat marine litter and microplastics from all sources’.
Each country will monitor how much plastic enters its waterways for the first time to help tackle the ‘planetary crisis’.
Earlier this week at the conference in Kenya, the UN’s head of environment, Erik Solheim, held up a copy of the Daily Mail and praised our campaign to eliminate plastic pollution, describing it as ‘fantastic’.
