M&S superstar blasts Corbyn’s latest PR stunt

-

LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn must have thought it was a smart move to appear as a cover boy on GQ magazine posing in an M&S jacket and red tie.

However he has been brought down a peg or two by supermodel David Gandy.

M&S ambassador Gandy, 37, is not only a former GQ cover star but regularly tops their bestdressed lists. ‘He’s clearly not very busy because he has time to go to musical festivals and do photo shoots,’ Gandy tells me.

‘Corbyn is trying to appeal to the younger people to get their vote. He went to Glastonbury, he did GQ, he’s trying to appeal to students saying they won’t have to pay tuition fees — it’s about votes. That’s why he’s doing it, it’s a bit of PR and marketing.’

The Essex- born underwear model, who made his name in the racy Dolce & Gabbana perfume campaign, did not disclose which political party he votes for. But he was quick to praise the Prime Minister for abstaining from fashion magazine covers.

‘We definitely should not have Theresa May on a magazine cover,’ he adds at the launch of the Aspinal of London flagship store on Regent Street. ‘She’s got enough on her plate at the moment with Brexit and running the country.

‘I think if you’re serious as Prime Minister and you’re running the country then you shouldn’t have time for a magazine photoshoot. Clearly Jeremy Corbyn has got time to do that.’

Gandy, who is dating lawyer Stephanie Mendoros after an onoff relationship with Strictly Come Dancing contestant and pop star Mollie King, knows all about hard graft. As one of the world’s most successful male models, he has an estimated fortune of £12 million and last year earned £4 million — making him the only male model on Britain’s Richest Models Top Ten List.
