EU LEADERS should be forced to join a ‘ United states of Europe’ by 2025, angela’s Merkel’s possible leadership partner declared yesterday.

Martin schulz, leader of Germany’s second biggest political party, said any countries who do not sign up to join a federal Europe should be kicked out of the bloc.

The social democrat chief – a former European Parliament president – said that the plan could be a condition of entering into coalition talks with Mrs Merkel. However, his radical scheme however will raise eyebrows across the continent, where it would likely be met with widespread opposition by fellow leaders and voters.

Mr schulz, who was a harsh critic of Brexit, said that the measure was the only way for Europe to ‘keep up with the other great regions of the world’.

But critics pointed out that the demand for any country that does not agree to be kicked out could be illegal, while the plan may not even win widespread support within his own party.
