- By James Tozer

A RUSSIAN businesswoman who plotted a terrifying robbery in which her ex-lover’s wife and teenage daughter were tied up and threatened was jailed for ten years yesterday.

Karine Solloway, 59, had a five-year affair with tycoon Robert McKendrick during which she lent him more than £1million as he fought accusations he was running an investment scam. But after an acrimonious break-up, Solloway arranged for a raid on his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, in a bid to recoup her losses.

While Mr McKendrick was on business abroad a gang burst into the house and trussed up his wife Priya and 17-year-old daughter Scarlett before making off with goods worth tens of thousands of pounds.

The gang were traced through stolen goods on eBay and police uncovered links with Solloway. She was convicted of conspiracy to rob at Chester Crown Court last month. Paul Prior, 34, and Iain McGarry, 48, who both admitted conspiracy to rob at the hearing, were jailed for ten and eight years respectively. Kimpton Mativenga, 31, was convicted of conspiracy to rob and jailed for six-and-a-half years.
