Job creation boosts US

NEARLY 230,000 jobs were created in the United States last month – paving the way for another rise in interest rates next week.

So-called non-farm payrolls – a key measure of employment and health of the US economy – increased by 228,000 in November.

Unemployment in the world’s largest economy held firm at a 17-year low of 4.1pc.
