Flying shoes and invisibility cloaks – how kids see future
FLYING shoes, invisibility cloaks and teleportation will all be a reality within the next decade – or so most children believe.
Some 78 per cent of six to 12year-olds think ‘anything is possible’ due to the great strides in technology of recent years, a survey shows.
Asked what they thought would be invented in the near future, 25 per cent said flying shoes. And 70 per cent said we would be able to communicate with animals within the next decade thanks to the invention of a Doctor Dolittle-style ‘translation device’.
Two thirds said X-ray specs and telepathy would soon be possible, while a third expect teleportation and invisibility cloaks to be part of our lives within the next ten years, according to the poll by Sony Mobile to promote its Xperia Touch projector.
Ian Pearson, of the website Futurizon, which assesses the impact of technology in the future, said: ‘Kids have grown up in a Harry Potter culture surrounded by tech that does seemingly magical things – so it’s not unreasonable to expect them to think anything at all is possible.’
