Should we kill British terrorists fighting for ISIS?

-

AT LONG last, a Government minister has come out and told us what we should do with ISIS terrorists — no doubt the views of most sensible people in the UK. i back the Defence Secretary all the way, and a big thank you to the Mail for giving it prominence on the front page.

MARTIN JAMES MBE, Grindleton, Lancs.

DEFENCE Secretary Gavin Williamson is correct in saying : ‘A dead terrorist can’t cause any harm to Britain’ (Mail). But killing citizens who have chosen to fight abroad for terrorist groups like ISIS could incentivise more non-British jihadis to cause harm to British people at home or abroad. Moreover, Mr Williamson is on very dodgy legal grounds. There is no longer the death penalty in Britain, and ordering the execution of a British citizen using a drone or other system is still execution. We need to demonstrate the essential importance of the rule of law.

DR DAVID LOWRY, Stoneleigh, Surrey

THERE’S a war on. These people are the enemy as much as SS troops heading towards a defenceless town in World War ii. That town might be your town, the victims your children. So you have to kill the combatants as quickly as possible.

IT IS illegal to kill someone because you think they might in future commit a murder, or you think they might have supported terrorism in the past.

i FULLY endorse Gavin Williamson’s views. Grow a backbone, Britain.

NEIL BLATCHFORD, Buckingham

AT LAST! A Defence Secretary ready and willing to defend these islands. Gavin Williamson will be pilloried by liberals who can’t wait to see Britain become extinct, but hailed from the rooftops by millions like me.
