Fury in the dock
TYsON FURY’s longdelayed hearing relating to alleged doping offences begins today in london. Fury, who along with his cousin Hughie denies the charges, has been out of the ring since his win over then world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko two years ago. The 29-year-old was allowed to keep his titles after claiming he ingested performance-enhancing substances accidentally through contaminated meat. He was subsequently suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control after admitting cocaine abuse while battling serious depression. The board will consider lifting that ban after the UK anti-Doping hearing, which presumably goes ahead after a resolution of Fury’s appeal for the exclusion of some evidence. The hearing will take several days with a verdict expected next year.
