LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND
HERO OF THE WEEK
DARIUS CHARLES (AFC Wimbledon): This weekend saw the first postponements of the season due to bad weather. AFC Wimbledon fans were stranded in Manchester when their game at Bury was called off. Credit to defender Darius Charles, who stumped up £150 to buy fans a round of beers to keep spirits up.
ZERO OF THE WEEK
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK (Northampton): The fantastic days under Chris Wilder seem to belong in the distant past now. Manager Hasselbaink was meant to steady things after Justin Edinburgh’s calamitous reign. That hasn’t happened. A drab 5-1 defeat at Oldham left Northampton two points off the bottom and without a League win for a month.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
JOSH RUFFELS (OXFORD v Doncaster): Piledrivers from 25 yards are always pretty special but one that comes in the 96th minute to win the game …even better. Ruffels’ left-footed strike gave Oxford a 1-0 win that moved them up to eighth.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
PAUL COOK (Wigan boss): Speaking after a 2-0 win over Fleetwood put them four points clear: ‘I’m not the type of manager to get carried away. The main positive was that, in very difficult conditions, the lads worked very hard to keep the clean sheet, especially out of possession. There’s a long way to go for everyone so we just keep going.’
STAT OF THE WEEK
5— Blackburn’s 3- 2 win at Peterborough was their fifth straight victory and moved them up to third.
