York is latest to revoke Uber licence
UBER has been refused a renewed licence to operate in York – just three months after its right to run taxis in London was suspended.
Councillors in York turned down the taxi-hailing app over the number of complaints they received, as well as a data breach last month in which details of 2.7million UK customers were hacked.
Neil McGonigle, from Uber, said it was ‘disappointing’.
In September, Transport for London refused to renew Uber’s licence over ‘public safety and security’, and Sheffield suspended Uber’s operations on December 7.
