Wenger: We’re not over United defeat

- KIERAN GILL

ARSENE WENGER reflected on Arsenal’s goalless draw at West Ham last night and admitted his side are suffering a hangover from losing to Manchester United earlier this month. Arsenal managed 33 shots against United but lost 3-1. Last night they produced 22 but could not score at all. The Gunners are now seventh in the Premier League and Wenger said: ‘Our performances are not reflected by results. ‘Against United, 33 shots and we didn’t win. At Southampton (a 1-1 draw) it was similar to tonight. ‘It is frustrating but this patch will not last. ‘The 33 shots against Man United and chances missed had a little impact. We must focus on quality and not the fact we are not ruthless.’ Wenger also defended out-ofform striker Alexis Sanchez. ‘He tried,’ said the Arsenal manager. ‘It was difficult because they defended very well. ‘In situations like this you do not focus on one player, but the collective attitude of the team. We create chances and that will come back. ‘I don’t want to talk about (the title race). It’s good for headlines. City are too far away to talk about that. We don’t give up. Our job is to fight as long as we can and give our best.’ West Ham boss David Moyes praised the organisation of his side — something that was lacking under Slaven Bilic. ‘Four points against Chelsea and Arsenal, and unlucky against Manchester City, so there are good signs,’ Moyes said. ‘We know we’re at the wrong end of the table, but we have to start somewhere and the results have given us a good platform.’
