How he skewered treacherous MPs
AUDIENCE MEMBER:
Obviously she [Nicky Morgan] has done a really treacherous act last night against the Conservative Party, but the lady on the other side [Rebecca Long-Bailey] is in a party that should be defending the working-class communities, which this town is, and [her] party is tending towards the single market now, which is unrestricted migration. ‘That is what this town overall voted Leave to stop, because it damaged the working-class communities. ‘She [Long-Bailey] is worse than her [Morgan] in effect and her party is doing more damage to these communities. ‘If we’re going to hear Keir Starmer keep on about the single market [being] on its way back... That’s what we wouldn’t have in these working-class traditional communities and you’re stabbing us in the back if you’re going to carry on with what happened last night, with those treacherous rebels, and bring that down upon us. ‘And when [panellist Professor Robert Winston] says about parliamentary sovereignty, the people are the sovereign to put the representatives in a Parliament. We made our decision. We know why we made it. ‘I know you say we’re thick up North but I made it on my ballot paper. It said Leave or Remain and it didn’t say when I put my box in Leave, now turn to question two: Do you want a soft Brexit or do you want a hard Brexit?’
REBECCA LONG-BAILEY:
…we’re quite clear that Brexit is going to happen
AM:
Well, act like it then. Drop the single market and get on with it
RLB:
We want an economic arrangement with the European Union which allows us to trade freely…
AM:
That’s what the Conservatives do – Theresa May wants that. She’s trying to get that…
RLB:
We recognise that coming out of the single market, freedom of movement will end…
AM:
Keir Starmer’s not saying that.
