HELLMANN’S MAYONNAISE:

The glass jars come with a plastic seal around the lid — which has to be removed before opening. While the glass jar and lid can be widely recycled, for the plastic strip it ‘depends on the local authority’. Apparently it is there to give customers ‘the confidence that the jar has not been opened’. However did we cope before the plastics’ revolution, I wonder?
