Pampered dog with 68 gifts worth over £1,000... more than her owners
UNDER the Mueller family’s Christmas tree, presents wrapped in pink paper are piled high, ready for someone special to tear them open next week.
Yet it won’t be an excited child unwrapping these gifts on Christmas Day but Lola the cockapoo.
Owner Helena Mueller, 38, has bought the pampered pooch more than 68 gifts – more than her son Harry, six, or husband Mark, 51.
She has spent over £1,000 on presents for Lola, and this year’s haul includes a hair treatment at a salon, canine cologne worth £45, a £42 coat to match one that Helena owns and a £10 cockapoo calendar featuring pictures of Lola.
There are so many gifts that Mrs Mueller, an insurance worker from March, Cambridgeshire, had to put out a Facebook plea for help to wrap it all.
She said: ‘This year, she’s definitely getting more gifts than my son Harry. I tried to hide that from Harry last year, but this time it’s so obvious because there’s so many. You know, Lola never moans about homework, and she never complains about what’s for dinner.’
Nicknamed ‘Lady Lola’ because of her pampered lifestyle, the dog also has her own bank account and a monthly allowance of £100.
The spoilt pet is taken around in a special dog pram and even has her own bike seat imported from America. The two-year-old dog also boasts an extensive wardrobe featuring outfits to match her owner. Mrs Mueller added: ‘Yes I am obsessive, but I don’t disturb her if she’s asleep. If she’s cuddled up on me on the sofa and I want something, I call Mark and make him get it. Mark says, “aren’t your legs working?” and I’m like, “I’m not going to disturb Lola!”
‘She came on a family trip to the cinema last week and it was brilliant. My husband wasn’t expecting her but I couldn’t leave her at home. So she came along wearing pyjamas, matching mine. We have matching jackets too.’
Mrs Mueller also takes great care over Lola’s diet, feeding her raw food only – though naturally, on Christmas Day, she will get a special roast dinner for dogs.
