Benjamin Harvey opened a linen shop in Knightsbridge in 1831, and he employed James Nichols in 1841 After Harvey’s death in 1850, his wife Anne teamed up with Nichols to form Harvey Nichols & Co

It was floated in 1996 before going private again in 2002

It has stores in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Kuwait
