Bake Off team hold their Christmas lunch a week early... but who made the mince pies?

- By Laura Lambert TV & Radio Reporter

WITH Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood on the guest list, you would think that making the Christmas dinner would be all wrapped up between them. But when the Great British Bake Off gang reunited for an early festive meal yesterday, it was presenter Sandi Toksvig who showed off her culinary skills. The four – including co-presenter Noel Fielding – tucked into roast duck, tenderstem broccoli, red cabbage and roast potatoes. And Miss Toksvig, 59, seems to have got the judges’ approval, as the quartet smiled for the camera surrounded by full plates, crackers and tumblers of wine.

The Bake Off team were toasting a sterling year, which saw the programme become the second highest-rated show ever on Channel 4. Miss Leith, 77, posted the photo online with the caption: ‘Christmas comes early to the Gang of Four. Sandi makes a mean roast duck’, while Miss Toksvig joked: ‘Just yer average December Sunday lunch guests.’ Hollywood, 51, posted a photo of himself holding up a marzipan pig made by Fielding, 44, which the baker had won for ‘finding the whole almond in Sandi’s Danish Rice Pudding’.
