Why living with men makes women pile on the pounds

- Daily Mail Reporter

MORE than a quarter of women gain weight after moving in with a male partner because their diet becomes unhealthier – and they say it’s the men’s fault.

Some 27 per cent of those who start cohabiting claim their men encourage them to eat more pizzas, curry and fish and chips.

In a poll, they said partners had a ‘negative effect’ on their eating, making them gain weight.

The remaining 73 per cent said men had made little or no difference to their diet after they moved in together. However, 40 per cent of men said their female partners had a positive impact on their diet when they began living together, so they ended up eating less junkfood.

The remaining 60 per cent said it made ‘little of no difference’ to their diets, according to the poll of 1,000 men and women by the storage firm Space Station.

Hypnotherapist Dipti Trait said: ‘When we feel settled, we relax. This can extend to other areas in our lives, such as eating habits.’
