MIDDLESBROUGH chairman Steve Gibson promised his side would ‘smash’ the division this season. A summer spend of around £50million and the appointment of Garry Monk seemed to back his words up with actions. But Boro are down in 10th, have lost three of their last four matches and, on Saturday, lost 2-1 to Millwall. They are steadily falling behind a tight pack chasing the play-offs. Monk needs to improve, and soon.
