Pack it in
OUR love affair with plastic is getting worse. All fresh food is wrapped in it — even swedes, for heaven’s sake. Rock-hard nectarines are placed on a sturdy tray, then covered in a bag.
Even worse, fruit is chopped into bite-sized pieces and put into plastic containers. Who is so pressed for time that they can’t peel and slice an apple or a banana?
Are supermarkets serving the best interests of consumers or those of the packaging industry?
