SHARES in Drax ran out of power after the company said that a fire at its rail unloading facility would knock £10m off its earnings.

The damage will force it to close two of its three biomassfired units to carry out repairs which are not due to be completed until January.

Andy Koss, chief executive, said: ‘No-one was hurt in the incident and safety remains our number one priority.’

The news sent shares in the firm down 2pc, or 5.5p, to 270.9p.
