Cheltenham prize boost

EACH DAY of the Cheltenham Festival will offer more than £ 1million in prizemoney for the first time next year.

Jockey Club racecourses will see an £8m injection in 2018 and the increases begin with prize- money on New Year’s Day at Cheltenham up 23 per cent to £260,000.

The Festival, run over four days in March, will see a record total of £ 4.59m awarded, with the Gold Cup now worth £625,000 — up £50,000 from 2017.
