Xmas is ruined! Cadbury ditches Fudge for Oreo in selection box

- Daily Mail Reporter

IT has previously upset shoppers by altering the recipe of its fruit and nut bars and cutting the number of creme eggs in a multi-pack from six to five.

Now Cadbury has angered chocolate lovers again with a change to its festive selection box.

The popular Fudge bar has been removed from the £2.99 version of the box and replaced with an American-inspired interloper, the Dairy Milk Oreo bar.

Although it is still available in the small (£1.09) and Freddo (£2.99) selection packs, the move has left a sour taste in the mouths of fans. The British confectioner, now owned by US company Mondelez International, said it wanted to ‘offer more of a variety’.

Those who prefer the Fudge bar, however, were quick to express their frustration on Twitter. One, Mark Atwood, declared: joins Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Dairy Milk Buttons, ‘Christmas is ruined.’ Nigel Quinlan accused Double Decker and Wispa in the company’s the firm of waging a ‘war on Christmas’, ‘best- selling selection box in the while Sinead Gleeson called for ‘a revolution UK’. A Cadbury spokesman said in a statement: against this chocolate tyranny’. ‘This year we have updated the range

The biscuit-based Dairy Milk Oreo bar available within our selection boxes to improve the mix and offer more of a variety for our fans. Cadbury Fudge is still available in our small selection box and Freddo selection box but has been removed from the medium selection box to ensure we’re offering choice between the ranges.’

However, one consumer contacted the company on Twitter to say: ‘Let me assure you NO ONE WANTS OREO! It’s bad enough trying to ruin the perfection of Dairy Milk which is a crime anyway – but to compound this by removing fudge? You, sirs, have done a bad thing – very bad.’
