Conservative whip cleared over claim he sexually harassed Olympic rower
A GOVERNMENT whip who resigned over allegations of sexual harassment has been cleared by a Conservative Party probe.
Chris Pincher quit last month and reported himself to the police following allegations of sexual harassment. But a panel led by an independent QC found there had not been a breach of the party’s code of conduct.
The 48-year-old Tory MP was accused of making an unwanted pass in 2001 at former Olympic rower Alex Story. He was also accused of ‘touching up’ former Labour MP Tom Blenkinsop, who told him to ‘f*** off’. Mr Pincher is reported to have tried to untuck Mr Story’s shirt and massaged his neck before changing into a bathrobe.
Mr Pincher said he did ‘not recognise the events’ and apologised for any offence caused.
A Conservative Party spokesman said: ‘Following an investigation, a panel headed by an independent QC considered the evidence and has concluded there has not been a breach of the code of conduct.’
