2 presenter Jeremy Vine, who has 650,000 followers on twitter, is worried about the perils of social media. ‘I think it’s having an effect on our mental wellness,’ he says. ‘People take their phones into the loo! ‘on balance, I think I would shut it down, actually, social media. If we could turn a switch and just go back to sending each other postcards, I would probably turn that switch. ‘Because I think twitter shows you how the third reich started. once you give people anonymity, they behave in the most disgusting way. ‘In some respects, I feed off it — but I also think that it’s got a very dark heart.’
