Pards frets over Evans
ALAN PARDEW fears more transfer window heartache as speculation grows about centre half Jonny Evans’s West Brom future. In 2011, when Pardew was boss of Newcastle, he lost key striker Andy Carroll in a deadline-day move to Liverpool. ‘I think it would be a blow to us to lose (Evans),’ said Pardew. ‘I lost Andy Carroll on the last day of the window and I think we’d already said he wouldn’t leave, so I won’t go down that road again.’ Evans was the subject of a failed summer bid by Manchester City, who are still interested. ‘I’m not aware of any contract that has been offered to Jonny as yet,’ said Pardew, whose side hope to end their 17-game run without a win against Everton.
