Carroll and Hernandez must wait

- By ADAM CRAFTON

WESt HAM boss David Moyes has told Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll they will have to wait for their chance after the pair fell down the striking pecking order.

With Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio thriving in central roles, £16million summer signing Hernandez and £15m Carroll are forced to watch from the bench.

Hernandez ( right) was injured when Moyes took over and failed to make an impression in the Carabao Cup defeat at Arsenal.

Moyes, meanwhile, was forced to substitute Carroll in his debut defeat at Watford after the striker’s flailing elbows left him at risk of a red card.

Moyes said: ‘the team have been playing well. When that happens you reward them and keep playing them. But i do know Andy Carroll and Hernandez’s qualities.

‘the way the team has been set up has been better suited to the quicker boys up front. there will be occasions when we have to change and the set-up will suit Andy or Hernandez at different times.’

‘Hernandez can start but i’d like to give him service around the box.’

Moyes is also considering a recall for Joe Hart in place of Adrian. He said: ‘i have two good keepers and i’ll need to see what i think.’
