Fans’ fears for marriage split Davina after ‘lonely Xmas’ video
LOOKING tired and gaunt as she discusses loneliness at Christmas, it is not the chirpy Davina McCall we are used to.
The TV presenter has provoked concerns that she is ‘too thin’ and ‘struggling’ after posting a candid video message on Instagram weeks after splitting from her husband of 1 years.
The 50-year-old appeared to have tears in her eyes as she said Christmas was ‘one of those days … where it’s quite possible to feel lonely’.
Although she did not explicitly refer to her separation from Matthew Robertson, she said she felt for those who had ‘lost someone you really care about, and this is your first Christmas without them’.
While some fans praised her ‘kind and true words’, many were quick to comment on the video that they hoped she took some time for ‘self care’ and to ‘look after herself’.
Others appeared concerned by her appearance, and commented that she was looking ‘a bit too thin’, but when asked directly by one fan if she was OK she simply replied ‘yes’.
The ‘worrying’ image projected by the former Big Brother host was markedly different from the persona she portrays in her new fitness DVD, which was released yesterday.
Indeed, anyone who has already bought Davina: Toned In 10, will see the mother of three smiling through gruelling workouts and bounding around the set showing off her toned physique.
The series of exercise ‘blends’ are understood to have been filmed before she and Mr Robertson separated. In the DVD, she champions her trainer Sarah Gorman for getting rid of her cellulite and ‘cankles’. She also talks about the ‘profound changes’ to her body, which is ‘more defined and toned than ever’.
Last week Miss McCall posted a picture showing off her six-pack as she holidayed in Australia in a green bikini.
In her social media video, posted on Christmas Day, Miss McCall tells any followers feeling lonely ‘to curl up with a duvet’, eat some food and watch a film.
Miss McCall’s representatives said: ‘Davina just returned from Australia, where she was visiting family, and has spent a happy Christmas with them.’
