ACCORDING to officials at the Elysee Palace, the wife of the French President, Brigitte Macron, receives up to 200 letters a day from women congratulating her on flying the flag for the attractive older lady.

At 64, and with a 24year age gap between her and her husband, there is no doubt that she is living proof that there is hope for us all.

But Monsieur Macron too deserves credit — for disproving the cliche that all men are obsessed with firm young flesh and incapable of appreciating the advantages of wisdom and experience.
