Sell your gift card for cash

YOU can turn unwanted gift cards into spare cash by flogging them online.

With little-known website called Zeek.me, you can advertise your gift card online where other shoppers can buy them. Zeek lets you offer discount on the face value of the card.

Cards on the website are currently selling with discounts of between 1 pc and 25 pc.

So if you had a £20 gift card you could offer it at 10 pc off — or £18.

The bigger the reduction you choose, the quicker it is likely to sell.

Those offering the biggest savings tend to have shorter expiry dates. Cards from troubled retailer Toys R Us have been on offer at a 25 pc discount. You have to pay a fee to Zeek for the service. It charges 7 pc commission when you sell the card. So if you sold a card at £18, Zeek would bill you £1.26.

To become a seller, you’ll need to register on the website and type in the code on the back of your gift card along with its expiry date.
