Vibe shakes Villa

- ROBERT DUNFORD

ASTON VILLA’S winless run was extended to five games by Lasse Vibe’s strike at a drenched Griffin Park last night. The Danish forward followed up his match-winning double at Norwich on Friday by poking home Josh McEachran’s corner from close range after 52 minutes. Brentford had the first effort of note after 16 minutes when Villa keeper Sam Johnstone pulled off an excellent fingertip save from Sergi Canos. The breakthrough came after 22 minutes, when Romaine Sawyers collected a pass from Ryan Woods and drove his shot to Johnstone’s left from 20 yards out. Villa upped the tempo and equalised on the half hour mark when Scott Hogan’s cross was headed in by substitute Josh Onomah. However, Brentford had the Vibe. ‘I felt we were good value for the win,’ said manager Dean Smith.
