Wolves win over Harris

- IVAN SPECK

ENTERING the Lions’ Den on Boxing Day, Wolves displayed the necessary animal instincts to earn a point that even made an admirer of Millwall manager Neil Harris. Harris’s players never flinch in battle and he saw the same qualities in an expensively assembled Wolves side that have built their lead at the top of the Championship more on flair than fight. Harris said: ‘It’s fine managers saying that Wolves have got this amount of money but you have to spend it wisely. I think they have got the balance between the foreign influx of players with flair and quality and a real good backbone of English players as well. I wouldn’t have thought that we will be seeing them here again next season — and I hope it’s because they are in the Premier League.’ Lee Gregory gave Millwall the lead on 17 minutes before Diogo Jota’s first-half injury-time equaliser. Romain Saiss’s 25-yard strike put the visitors ahead but Jake Cooper’s 72nd-minute header ensured honours finished even. Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: ‘It was a tough game. Millwall really fight and they deserved something from this game also. Of course we wanted the three points, but we have to stay humble.’
