You need to throw punches

AFTER Manchester City beat Bournemouth 4-0 just before Christmas, I could not believe it when I heard some City supporters say they were getting bored. How can that be the case when Pep Guardiola’s side are playing some of the best football I have ever seen? Yet while these fans are living through a period of unprecedented success for City, they are growing frustrated that teams such as Bournemouth are coming to the Etihad and not having a go. City have created an aura about them, having gone unbeaten all season and won a record 18 matches in a row. Their opponents are rightly fearful of them. But whether they lose 1-0 or 4-0, a defeat is a defeat. You do not win a boxing match by merely covering up. You have to throw a punch. It is not much of a spectacle when teams park the bus. Teams would gain much more respect by trying to take the game to City.
