BENEFIT FROM CYBER ATTACKS

- by James Coney

ATTACKS on major companies by hackers have become a commonplace part of the modern world.

In the past 12 months we’ve seen raids on the NHS, and the multi-nationals.

Data security and protecting IT systems have become critical issues for all the world’s major organisations.

This is what SOPHOS does best, and is why I believe its recent growth – it’s up by more than 100pc in the last year – is set to continue.

Its expertise in encryption, firewalls and in stopping hackers from breaching company computer systems is indispensible, and it is very difficult for individual companies to develop themselves.

These small firms need the expertise of a specialist like Sophos. and it has also been gobbling up rivals to expand further.

The company’s shares were at 570p yesterday, and have peaked at 621.50p during the past year.
