Disabled woman, 51, murdered in her home
POLICE have begun a murder inquiry after a disabled woman was found dead in her home five days after she was last seen alive by her carer.
The body of Julie Fox, who is thought to have had cerebral palsy, was discovered on December 27 after a neighbour smelt gas and called 999 at 6.50pm.
Miss Fox, 51, who lived alone in a bungalow in Worcester, died from head injuries, a post-mortem examination found.
Although there were no signs of a break-in, the cooker rings in her kitchen had been left on and her pink handbag was missing.
Friends and neighbours said Miss Fox was only visited by her mother and her carer.
Detectives said she was ‘solitary’ but was well known in the city, and would regularly travel around in her electric mobility scooter, often with her dog in the basket on the front.
Police said she sometimes left the door of her house unlocked.
Detective Superintendent Adrian McGee said: ‘Members of the public may well hold the key to this investigation and help us to identify who is responsible.
‘Any information, no matter how small, will help us to build up a better picture of Julie and piece together her final hours.’
Police have released CCTV of Miss Fox taken shortly before she died to encourage anyone who saw her to come forward.
