Man held over barmaid killing

A MAN was being questioned last night over the murder of a barmaid whose stabbed and battered body was found in a park just days after Christmas.

Detectives investigating the death of Iuliana Tudos arrested the 31-year-old yesterday lunchtime in Dalston, east London, just a few miles from where her body was discovered near her home in Finsbury Park on December 27.

Miss Tudos, 22, who is of Russian and Greek origin, was last seen by friends at around 8pm on Christmas Eve when she headed off to catch a bus home from Camden, north London. She was due to meet them at another friend’s home later that evening, but never arrived.

Police said CCTV footage showed her on the outskirts of the park shortly after 8.20pm. Her body was found three days later in a disused building in the park.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen and a head injury.
