WE’VE debated this before when we looked at Cristiano Ronaldo and his impact at Manchester United. He would go down too easily but he would also draw great scrutiny because of the speed of his movement and his quick feet. In the early stages of his time at Manchester United he was labelled a diver. Wilfried Zaha is quick, direct, drives into the box and invites challenges. He is everything you want in an attacking player and his team-mates will not complain one bit. But he does go down easily and this will not be the last time we are discussing ‘dive or penalty?’ about him this season. I do like him as a footballer. Roy Hodgson has certainly helped him improve — we are watching a top-six player leading Palace away from the bottom six. Instead of focussing on what he can’t do, his manager is giving him the confidence to focus on his strengths. If Zaha stays fit and Palace keep him in this transfer window, they stay uup. He was injured in the first game of the season, missed the next six and they lost all six, failed to score and the manager got the sack. So Roy won’t be in any hurry to let him go. He’s an electrifying match winner.
