Police raise £1.5m selling crooks’ haul

-

A POLICE force has made almost £1.5 million by selling designer goods seized from criminals for knock-down prices on eBay.

Leicestershire Police was the first in the UK to use the auction site to sell assets paid for with cash generated through criminal activity.

Bargain hunters visiting the force’s eBay ‘shop’ snapped up Rolex watches as well as Mulberry designer handbags. One man’s Rolex 18-carat gold Sky Dweller sold for £21,600.

The force shares the cash with the Home Office and CPS, with some used as compensation for crime victims.
