FIFA have finally started an investigat­ion into Rhian Brewster’s claim that England team-mate Morgan Gibbs-White was racially abused during the Under 17 World Cup final. In one of a series of allegation­s by Liverpool’s Brewster, he said that Wolves midfielder Gibbs-White was called a ‘monkey’ as England beat Spain 5-2 in Kolkata in October. A FIFA spokesman said the organisati­on were ‘now analysing and gathering evidence’. ÷ MARK HUGHES is set for talks with Stoke’s board today. The meeting was scheduled primarily to discuss recruitmen­t, but it is understood Peter and John Coates, the chairman and vice-chairman, will use it to press Hughes on Stoke’s alarming run of results and what can be done.
