Do women really need Hugh and Jude’s help?

-

He recently said he could not comment on the Harvey Weinstein scandal because there was ‘murk in his past’.

But Hugh Grant appeared to have put this behind him at the Golden Globes as he joined the flock of celebrity men wearing ‘time’s up’ badges to stand against sexual harassment.

As women dressed in black to show solidarity with victims of sexual harassment and assault, male stars adopted the badge to voice their support for the campaign.

the 57-year-old actor, who has four children from two women, wore the black and white badge on his suit jacket lapel as he posed with girlfriend Anna eberstein, who is 22 years his junior.

It may seem a strange move to some, as Grant has a somewhat colourful history.

In 1995 he was caught with prostitute divine Brown in a car in Los Angeles while he was dating actress Liz Hurley. Also sporting the time’s up badge on the breast of his Yves saint Laurent tuxedo was Jude Law. Like Grant, the Alfie star is known for his dramatic love life, having fathered five children by three women. In 2005 his engagement to actress sienna Miller ended after had a fling with his former nanny daisy Wright.

the Crown star Matt smith chose to wear the badge on his sleeve, while his costar Claire Foy sported a circular red, white and blue badge from campaign group equal Representation for Actresses emblazoned with ‘50:50’.

singer Justin timberlake, 36, shared a picture of himself wearing the badge as he posed with wife Jessica Biel before the awards ceremony. He wrote: ‘Here we come!! #tIMesuP #whywewearblack’.

But fans were quick to point out the alleged ‘hypocrisy’ of his gesture, as he starred in Woody Allen’s the Wonder Wheel last year. Allen’s adopted daughter dylan Farrow has claimed the filmmaker abused her as a child, accusations Allen denies.

One wrote: ‘He tries to come off as part of the solution when he’s really a part of the problem’. Another added: ‘supporting Woody Allen – wear black and saying timesup? Choose one side only!’

Other stars to wear the badge included Gary Oldman, Hugh Jackman, ewan McGregor and tom Hanks.
