Ex-builder making a mint from rare coins

-

A BUILDER who quit his £9-an-hour job now has a £70,000-a-year business selling rare coins on eBay.

James Grear, 20, realised there was money to be made after spotting a WWF 50p coin from 2011 going for £4 on the online auction site.

He set up The Coin Supplier with a friend and the pair would rifle through piles of change to find coins rare enough to sell.

Mr Grear now runs the business on his own from his flat in Bristol – after his friend used his earnings to fund a round-the-world trip – and it boasts an annual turnover of between £50,000 and £70,000. ‘I will sort through all the coins,’ Mr Grear told The Sun. ‘I’ve learnt which coins are good and got much quicker at it. ‘It’s a 24/7 business. You have to be willing to put the hours in.’ The Coin Supplier won a £5,000 prize in eBay’s business awards last year.
