LIKe the woman ticked off by the police for feeding the birds (Mail), I was astonished to receive a visit from two police community support officers. they told me I shouldn’t have sent a christmas card to my former neighbours because it ‘disturbed their sensibilities’.

When I asked if it was against the law to offer the season’s wishes, I was told: ‘Of course not.’ What a waste of resources.
