ILLEGAL STRIKES

AT the Momentum Youth and Students conference in June 2016, delegates called on the TUC and Labour Party to organise an illegal 24-hour general strike to bring down the Tory government and force new elections.

ON the 20th anniversar­y of her death in August, Momentum’s London Youth and Students group sarcastica­lly tweeted to the GCHQ: ‘Cannot believe it [has] been 20 years. We’ll get the bastards who did it.’

IN August the London youth wing praised the hard-Left ideology, tweeting: ‘Marxism is good babe.’

WITHDRAW FROM NATO

MOMENTUM’S youth wing won a vote at Young Labour’s conference in October calling for the UK to leave the military alliance. The London branch’s Twitter account said: ‘Motions passed on capital controls, leaving Nato and nationalis­ing the banks. Young Labour has been transforme­d.’

DEFENDING ANTI-SEMITISM

JAMES Elliott, the candidate backed by Momentum for the youth representa­tive seat on Labour’s executive, was found to have written in his student newspaper at Oxford in 2014: ‘Antisemiti­sm is a tired old accusation from Zionists, retreating behind mendacious slurs.’

NORTH KOREA SOLIDARITY

SARAH Cundy, the 1 -year-old chairman of Canterbury Momentum, tweeted in November that she stood in ‘solidarity’ with North Korea. She wrote: ‘I’d rather have solidarity with DPRK than the USA.’
