Virgin rail wails

-

ViRGin train staff are so offended by the Daily Mail that the company has withdrawn it from sale or being given free to its first- class passengers (Mail).

i resent having my customer choice restricted by a company that has benefited from taxpayers’ support to prop up a second-rate service. i am often offended by other newspapers’ editorial policies, but i would never wish to restrict Virgin train staff from reading alternative views to mine.

i suggest sir Richard branson concentrates on improving his train service rather than on cheap publicity stunts. Perhaps his staff will be more customer-focused now they are less distracted by the Mail.

DAVE HODDELL, Clevedon, Somerset. bAnninG the Daily Mail on Virgin trains is disgraceful censorship by people who cannot tolerate free expression. its staff should be reminded they are appointed to run a railway and not enter into the control of political expression.

JOHN COLBERT, Walsall, W. Mids. WhAt sort of society have we become when a multi-millionaire boss can decide what newspapers his customers can buy?

T. BAILEY, Nottingham. WE’VE had enough problems with southern Rail’s strikes without Virgin trains adopting a policy of no-platforming. T. NICHOLS, Basildon, Essex. i WiLL certainly not board a Virgin train or aircraft without buying a copy of the Daily Mail first. STJOHN COX, Taunton, Somerset.
