LAMENT FOR A LOST ROUTINE

-

‘Lost: One Routine — Needs Replacing’, It was here before Christmas, I know, It was used all the time and was valued, So its loss now, to me, is a blow. With the pressure now over from Christmas, No more wrapping or presents to find, I’ve become so relaxed I’ve unravelled To the point that there’s mush for my mind. I once used to dance on a Tuesday, And Wednesdays marked something — but what? And activities happened on Thursdays — But the details are now just a blot. My Routine was a sound working system, I relied on its regular form; Now adrift from that steadying balance, Life’s a rather long way from the norm. So I urge that if anyone sees A Routine simply lying around, Unattended, unloved and abandoned — They instantly tell me it’s found. Then the weeks will again be ordained And run smoothly without much ado, With Routine I’ll be re-united, And be back to the life that I knew. Mrs Christine Williams, Enfield, Middlesex.
