Drastic on plastic

WE SHOULD be encouraging the younger generation to clean up the planet for themselves. If councils offered children and teenagers a penny for each piece of plastic they hand in to collection points, it would actually encourage them to put down their mobile phones and do something useful.

The number of plastic bags has declined because supermarkets were forced to charge for them.
