OFF DAY FOR CITY AND THE RUN IS OVER

-

MANCHESTER CITY will be hoping to go the whole season unbeaten. I don’t care what Pep Guardiola (below) says — he and his players are very proud men and they are more than half-way to being branded ‘invincible’. But Liverpool will be heartened by what they saw Bristol City do in the Carabao Cup semi-final. They identified a weakness, played long balls behind the full backs, but didn’t have the quality to finish off some of that approach play. Jurgen Klopp will have a plan, too. The game against the Robins was the right one for City to have an off night. If they have an off day against Liverpool, their unbeaten run could come to an end. Liverpool can score two or three goals in a short space of time, in spite of the sale of Philippe Coutinho. City have set all sorts of records but this will be one they are ready for. It will be their biggest test.
