BERENBERG believes bad times are facing Pearson as cheaper rivals emerge, especially in its US market.

The broker said that while the educational publisher’s upcoming trading statement is likely to confirm that it performed at the upper end of its guidance in 2017, this is largely as a result of nonrecurring factors.
