KEVIN RUSSELL

(Assistant caretaker) in his own words . . .

-

Have the players questioned themselves after Mark Hughes’s sacking?

When a manager goes, everyone has got to look at themselves. Not only the players, but staff from the bottom to the top. Could we have done more? Could we have done better? So I’m sure the players are in that frame of mind and think they’ve got a point to prove.

Does more quality need to be added the side?

Once the injuries clear up, there are some good players in this squad. It’s a fantastic club and it’s just a matter of confidence and belief and one win gets you back on the road again.

Will the club stay up?

One hundred per cent, in my opinion. There is a lot of talent here and if they are playing to their full potential they are a tough team to beat.

What kind of situation will a new manager inherit?

The infrastructure is of a Premier League club and we are bearing the fruits of the academy. It’s in a good place and the new manager is going to inherit a well-run club.
